Do you suffer from frequent jaw discomfort? Have you had recurring headaches, jaw popping, pressure in your jaw joint, clicking, grinding, or even grating? Has it become more difficult for you to take care of your teeth due to the discomfort in your jaw joint?
If your answer is yes to any, or especially all of these questions, there is a chance you are suffering from TMD. TMD – temporomandibular joint disorder – has a number of potential causes, some of them including:
- Poor Bite – If your jaw is misaligned, it can result in irritation of your TMJ (temporomandibular joint) which over time can cause TMD. This frequently can cause jaw discomfort, as well as headaches and more. In many cases TMD treatment may be necessary.
- TMJ Injury – Unfortunately, the temporomandibular joint can become injured for a number of reasons, particularly the cartilage. If this happens it can require TMD treatment.
- Teeth Grinding – If you grind your teeth during moments of stress, or particularly if you grind teeth during your sleep it can result in TMD. If this is the case, you may require TMD treatment to help get your jaw joint back on track.
